Puerto Morelos is a simple and calm, yet charming, fishing village located between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. The buildings are restricted to a certain height to keep the small-town feel as part of its uniqueness and nothing has been prettied up for the tourists, which is very attractive to them.
Its coral reef is listed as a Marine Park and is part of the second largest coral reef barrier in the world (Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System), which makes it a preferred snorkel destination. An inclined lighthouse, result of a hurricane in 1967 is Puerto Morelos symbol. It was the first recognized port on the Mexican Caribbean.
The best way to move around the town is to walk, and you will find on your way many shops, restaurants, coffee places and nearby attractions as the Crococun Zoo, where you can interact with crocodiles.
